How You Can Become an Adult Nurse, Even If You Do Not Have the Qualifications Yet
You may not have the qualifications needed to study Adult Nursing yet, but that does not mean you cannot start working towards becoming a nurse. Our latest blog explores how!

What does an Adult Nurse do?
Adult Nurses care for people who are ill, injured, recovering from treatment or living with long-term health conditions.
They assess patients, give medication, monitor changes in their condition and work closely with doctors and other healthcare professionals. They may work in hospitals, clinics, hospices or patients’ homes.
You can find more information about the role and working conditions on the National Careers Service Adult Nurse profile.
How much can an Adult Nurse earn?
According to the National Careers Service, Adult Nurses typically earn around £32,000 when starting, rising to approximately £48,000 with experience.
The amount you earn will depend on your employer, experience, location and responsibilities.
How can you become an Adult Nurse?
To qualify, you must complete an Adult Nursing degree approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
If you do not currently meet the university entry requirements, you may first need to study Health and Social Care, complete an Access to Higher Education course or begin with a suitable foundation route.
The Adult Nursing degree combines academic study with compulsory placements in real healthcare settings.
After successfully completing your degree, you must register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council before you can work as a registered nurse in the UK. You can also check whether a course is recognised using the NMC’s approved nursing programmes search.
